The app

Duplicate Photos: Best Shot, on iPhone, iPad and Mac, does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. It analyzes your photos on your device. The Mac app has no network access, so no photo, measurement, or usage information can leave your Mac through it. The iPhone and iPad app makes no network connections of its own and sends nothing to us or anyone else.

Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store; the app receives only Apple's confirmation that the unlock is owned.

The app can keep an optional set of anonymous usage counters on your device, off unless you turn it on in Settings or when the app asks, once. They count how often features are used, how often something fails and with what kind of error, and how often the system reports that the app crashed or stopped responding: numbers only, never photos, file names, dates or error messages. They never leave your device unless you send the report yourself, by email, the share sheet or copy and paste, and you see every line of it first.

This website

Hosting

This website is served by Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) as our processor. To deliver pages and protect the site against attacks, Cloudflare processes technical data of every request — IP address, time, page requested, browser — and keeps it only as long as that requires, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy. We store no request logs ourselves and see only aggregate statistics, such as the number of visits per day and country, never individual requests or IP addresses. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Transfers to the USA are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Cloudflare's standard contractual clauses.

Cookie banner and your country

Without your consent the site sets no cookies. To decide whether to show the consent banner, your browser asks Cloudflare which country your connection comes from (a request to /cdn-cgi/trace on this domain). The answer is used only in your browser and is not stored. Your choice in the banner is saved in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and never sent to us. You can change it at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

Visitor statistics with Google Analytics (only with your consent)

If you allow it, we use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland), to see how the site is used: pages visited, how you arrived, device type, browser, screen size and approximate location (country and region). Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_7WVZEMD2S0, which keep a random identifier for up to two years to recognise repeat visits. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Google signals and ad personalization are switched off, and we do not link the data to Google's advertising products. Google may process the data in the USA as well; Google LLC is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and Google's standard contractual clauses also apply. We keep the statistics for 2 months. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). You can withdraw it at any time with Cookie settings; Analytics then stops and its cookies are deleted. Without consent, Google Analytics is not loaded and nothing is sent to Google. Outside the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland the statistics are on by default, and Cookie settings turns them off. More in Google's privacy policy.

With the same consent we also count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, builds no profiles and does not follow you to other sites; we only see totals such as visits per page, referring sites and countries.

The site has no advertising, no social media plugins and no other third-party embeds.
